Training and Behavioural Modification Methods
Training techniques used by Proud Pups Canine Behaviour and Training are centered around modern and up to date scientific practices. They utilise the principles of reward-based training and encourage independent learning in a safe environment. Aversive techniques, especially around handling, are not permitted during sessions with Proud Pups Canine Behaviour and Training. Any forms of physical punishment, violence and/or the use of choke/check chains, prong collars, e-collars and/or spray collars is strictly prohibited. Any other device or method not deemed appropriate by Proud Pups Canine Behaviour and Training may not be used during training sessions. Any person found to be using these methods, tools or other methods deemed inappropriate will not be permitted to continue working with Proud Pups Canine Behaviour and Training and will not be entitled to a refund.
The dog behaviour and training world is completely unregulated—many independent governing bodies are striving to change this. Sadly, many dog guardians, like yourself, are often misled into seeking help from a non-certified trainer. Anyone can practise as a dog behaviourist without any formal training, education, or accreditation. As a provisional member of the APBC (Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors) as a Clinical Animal Behaviourist, I adhere to a strict code of ethics and conduct to ensure I am providing the best and safest service for you and your dog. Many individuals and companies operate without regulation, often leading to poor outcomes for behaviour modification and, in some cases, employing outdated and aversive training methods. Proud Pups continues to support and drive the necessary move towards regulation and would only ever recommend seeking advice from a provisional or certified practitioner. If you would like further information on this, please send an email to: proudpupsdogtraining@outlook.com
Behavioural Advice and Support
All advice given by Proud Pups Canine Behaviour and Training is based on current scientific research. Its implementation over a period longer than the initial session is the responsibility of the dog owner/handler. Homework must be completed and evidence shown. Training will not work over night and behavioural modification can be a long process. By booking onto one of our services you are committing to a process requiring hard work and dedication. Training plans are designed and written from the experience of Proud Pups Canine Behaviour and Training staff members from years of personal dog ownership, work in rescue and theoretical based education from external bodies. Plans may change as time progresses and owners must be flexible. No plan should be carried out on a different dog than the one it was written for. Any other behavioural/training issue which should arise throughout the process will be taken into consideration. Proud Pups Canine Behaviour and Training cannot guarantee that any of the training will be effective as each dog is completely individual. All advice and support given is of behavioural/training theme and Proud Pups Canine Behaviour and Training expect no responsibility for medical related issues. Proud Pups Canine Behaviour and Training encourage all of their customers to seek veterinary advice should their dog fall ill or present signs of ill health. By booking onto one of our services you are agreeing to the above Terms and Conditions.
